Company History
Honda started as an automobile company in 1937. Initially, Soichiro Honda founded a parts manufacturer called Tokai Seiki. This endeavor may not have succeeded, but Honda forged ahead. He worked on improving his products so he could eventually make a name for himself in the industry. Finally, Honda Motor Company was founded in 1949 with the help of his partner, Takeo Fujisawa. The pair began creating their very own line of automotive vehicles.
During the same year that Honda Motor Company was established, the two started working on a special project. Their first motorcycle, the D-Type, was launched shortly after. By 1964, Honda had become the world’s biggest motorcycle manufacturer, which is a title the company still holds today.
