Why Polaris? 

 Polaris is a company that has been around for over 60 years. With its humble beginnings in Roseau, near Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1945, the company began by manufacturing farm equipment such as straw choppers and grain elevators. The company’s location in snowy Canada created unique challenges to farming operations there; thus, the company began to work on creating a vehicle that could tackle the snowy conditions. Ultimately, Polaris was the company that first developed the idea of a snowmobile, and thus revolutionized an outdoor sports industry that until then had relied on snowshoes and skis. 

The snowmobile proved so successful that the company moved to manufacturing them almost exclusively until the 1980s. At that point, with the snowmobile market tanking, the company diversified, beginning to manufacture ATVs.
